BLACK AND BIRDS
"in this hour of the evening from this point of the world"
Liliana Moro
Black & Birds is the title that briefly describes the artwork created by Liliana Moro for CARTEdition.
A flock of bee-eaters, brightly-coloured migratory birds, stands out on the wall, a black background that manifests itself in full force.
The flight of birds takes us back to an aerial dimension, opening up to the wonders of the sky and an unusual perspective.
Liliana Moro‘s research ranges from sound to installations, performances and objects; everything is a tool for reaching the essence of things, treating artistic material in a direct, rigorous and equally poetic way.
Stimulated by experimentation with a new medium, the artist carries out a disruptive action: she eliminates the wall, transforming it into a black sky whose depth seems infinite. She brings emptiness into closed spaces. It is in the contrast that the beauty lies, the choice of a figuration symbolising flight, open air and freedom transposed onto an element that has traditionally been used to decorate interiors.
Black & Birds is a work whose static nature evokes movement. It is the flock moving, fast approaching. In the silence you can almost hear its wing beats.
